Dear friends,
As you may be aware by now, I have been appointed to be your new Priest-in-Charge at St Peter’s. I am grateful for the opportunity to minister with you and to serve God as part of your loving and welcoming community. I am very excited about the possibilities that God will open before us to go deeper in our friendship with Christ and one another, and to continue to share the Good News of God’s unconditional love with the wider community in Musselburgh.
Guy and I will be moving to Scotland from Spain, where we have spent the past fourteen years leading Los Olivos, a creative, inclusive and ecumenical retreat ministry in Andalucia. Prior to that, I was in parish ministry in the Oxford Diocese for nearly nine years, and before that I studied theology in Oxford and Durham. As a result, I am no stranger to the British weather and to the beautiful unpredictability of enjoying four seasons in one day.
We have good friends in Scotland, many from the Scottish Episcopal Church, who visited the Los Olivos retreat centre over the years. I also have very fond memories of the time I spent as a locum priest at Christ Church, Morningside in 2013.
During the interview process, Guy and I had the chance to meet some of you and we were made very welcome. We really admired the worship and community spaces St Peter’s is blessed with and were very encouraged to hear of all the great work you do as a church family. We can’t wait to meet and get to know you all, to dream with you, and to join in what God is already doing through and among you in Musselburgh.
As we prepare for our move to Scotland, we will be keeping you in our prayers and would be grateful for yours.
Warm regards and blessings,
Daniel
