About Benet Haughton

I am an Edinburgh based painter. I work mainly in oils on canvas. I see my work in the context of the celebration of my faith. My spiritual roots lie in the Catholic church and though I am a borderline member of it, spiritually speaking I revere the deeply imaginative and poetic source it offers. 

I feel my work celebrates the joys and woes of life, the inner landscape of the human soul often inspired by the bible. It is figurative, narrational, non conceptual and poetic and sometimes ironic, though after a period in Greece in 2019 I began a series of ‘veiled’ paintings dealing with challenges to faith.
